The new infrastructure will feature two 10 MWt biomass boilers, which will supply 85 GWh of thermal energy per year—renewable, clean, and manageable. Commissioning is planned for the first half of 2026.

The facility, which represents an investment of more than 16 million euros —four of them contributed through the PERTE industrial decarbonization program—, will allow Mahou San Miguel to reduce its direct CO₂ emissions by 95%, almost completely replacing the use of natural gas.

Magnon Green Energy The company will be responsible for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of the plant, reinforcing its role as an energy partner for Spanish industry in its transition to climate neutrality. The company already operates similar projects in the agri-food sector and plans to launch three more before the end of 2025, in addition to negotiating with a dozen industrial clients interested in renewable thermal solutions.

For its part, Mahou San Miguel has committed to reducing its emissions by 501,000 tons by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality throughout its value chain by 2050. This project in Alovera represents a strategic step in that roadmap.

A new step towards a more sustainable industry, with biomass demonstrating its ability to offer effective and scalable solutions to decarbonize energy generation for thermal uses.
