AVEBIOM supports the essential digitalization of the biomass sector

AVEBIOM recibe premio mejor idea de proyecto en blockchain

Digitizing the industry and supply chains is one of the challenges and opportunities facing companies and stakeholders in the biomass business. For this reason, AVEBIOM aims to help its members, and by extension the entire sector, adapt their processes and businesses to increase their competitiveness and resilience.

The association is already part of the innovation network cluster such as the AEI Cybersecurity and of BIOPLAT and, since November, he has been a member of Digital Innovation hub of Industry 4.0 DIHBU, with the clear objective of promoting the digitalization of the biomass sector.

In fact, AVEBIOM has already begun seeking collaborations for R&D and innovation projects within ambitious programs such as Horizon 2020, the European platform for bio-based industries (BBI program), and the Green Deal call for proposals, which is still open. In addition to informing its members, the association's technical staff are exploring ways to connect with initiatives that will add value to the sector.

Blockchain and the digitization of the biomass sector

Daniel García, head of promotion and innovation at AVEBIOM, participated in the event Industrial Track 4.0  Organized by DIHBU on December 16th. With the support of Óscar Cela, technical director of the partner company of REDYTEL IoT, has reviewed the challenges of digitalization for the biomass sector, focusing on how blockchain technology can facilitate change.

Daniel García has explained the important role that blockchain can play in the traceability of the biomass chain, both for quality and for sustainability.

He highlighted the example of CHAINWOOD, aimed at digitizing the chain of custody of wood, a pilot-phase solution developed by a consortium of actors, including FAFCYLE. He also mentioned some initiatives from partner companies such as REDYTEL IoT and from technology partners such as CIRCE (project PIBSEFLEX) in automated pricing and contracts via Blockchain; the platforms of Renaissance for energy communities, in which they participate IKERLAN y CIRCE; and other lines of action in which CARTIF, CIDAUT and the UCAV They are working.

Smart heating networks 5.0: AWARD for the best blockchain project idea

The project idea “Heat Networks 5.0 in Castilla y León” presented by AVEBIOM at this event has received the award for the best project idea in blockchain.

According to Daniel García, in the future we will see how the digitalization of district heating networks will allow buildings, individuals, the service sector, and industry to act as prosumers (consumers and producers of heat and cooling) in networks integrated into the infrastructure of cities. Pilot projects to take the first steps in this direction are a necessity in the short and medium term.
