In addition to the Innovation Award given to Sugimat, ÖkoFEN's ZeroFlame technology and Palazzetti's system for total pellet combustion will each receive a runner-up prize.
In this call, and for the first time, the Innovation Award in the field of renewable gases is being granted.
The self-cleaning rotary biomass boiler Horizon+ developed and patented by Sugimat After several years of R&D work, it effectively combats fouling and deposit formation inside, even when using complex solid fuels, maintaining combustion performance and increasing the overall efficiency of the installation.
Technology ZeroFlame by ÖkoFEN It reduces particle emissions from pellet boilers to virtually negligible levels. A more economical and easier-to-maintain alternative to using filters. The system for the Palazzetti total combustion It allows you to burn all the unburned residue from your pellet equipment, thanks to the latest generation material used to manufacture the brazier of your stoves: Thermofix.
The jury valued these technological developments for their quality of innovation, their originality and applicability, and the improvement in energy efficiency they contribute to the valorization of biomass to obtain thermal energy.
Jorge Herrero, director of Expobiomasa and secretary of the jury for the 2021 Innovation Award, confirms that “The final decision was very close; both the winner and the runners-up are great innovations in the pursuit of perfect combustion and minimal emissions.”
First prizes at the Renewable Gas Show
Furthermore, in its first edition, the Renewable Gas Show Innovation Award has been given to the project Mixed Renewable Gas Unit (UMGNR), developed by the companies Naturgy, EnergyLab and EDAR Bens.
The runners-up are the biofactory developed at the Guijuelo WWTP by FCC Aqualia and a logistics, storage and renewable gas generation process from rice straw waste developed by Genia Bioenergy.
In addition to these initiatives, another 30 applications were submitted for the 2021 double Innovation Award in bioenergy and renewable gas. In total, nineteen were aimed at the bioenergy and solid biomass sector and 17 were related to the valorization of renewable gases.
The awards ceremony will take place in Valladolid on September 21st during the opening of Expobiomasa and the Renewable Gas Exhibition. In this double event, the two prizes and four runner-up prizes are worth €2,000 and €500 each in their respective categories.
