Through this application You can find up-to-date information on the projects, such as capacity, the type of waste that generates biomethane, the execution deadlines, and whether the biomethane is expected to be injected into the gas network.
Before the end of 2022, there will be 12 biomethane plants in operation in Spain and another 30 will be in the planning stages. By 2024, a total of 64 plants are expected to be operational, generating a total production of 2,077 GWh/year compared to the current 162 GWh/year.
In July 2021, the Government published a roadmap for this technology, although the final version has not yet been published.
The implementation of a system of guarantees of origin for renewable gases is expected shortly.
