Our partner Tubocás, awarded for its commitment to the environment

Tubocas recibe premio medioambiente andalucia en cambio climatico 2023

From the town of Huéscar in Granada, the company Tubocás SL. For decades, it has manufactured biomass-fueled hot air generators for farms and greenhouses. Furthermore, given the lack of pellet factories in the south of the country, in 2014 it built the largest pellet factory in Andalusia (which produced more than 18,000 tons of pellets in 2021). “Tupellets” with ENplus® certificate ES033), which contributes to the sustainable forest management of mountains in Sierra Nevada, Cazorla, María, Filabres and La Sagra.

In 2016, Tubocás entered the Weather Channel from the Spanish Biomass Association, which facilitates access to climate finance for projects that reduce CO2 emissions2, and becomes the first Andalusian company to sell 279 tons of CO22 for the replacement of a fossil fuel installation with one using biomass; one of the motivations that led to the award being granted by the Junta de Andalucía in 2023.

The award jury also valued Tubocás' participation in the creation of two Operational Groups; on the one hand, AGROFORAN, whose objective is the “Production, transformation and marketing of biomass for energy purposes under sustainable management”; and, on the other hand, AGROSYNGAS, a second Operational Group to advance in the “Valorization of agroforestry biomass through pelletizing and thermal-electric generation by gasification.”

Tubocás has shared the prize with the Andalusian Public Agency for Education.
