The new Board of Directors reinforces the pluralistic nature of the association, representing both technology and energy companies as well as the academic field, with the common goal of continuing to promote the sustainable use of biomass in Spain.
Javier Díaz, re-elected president of AVEBIOM, has highlighted that: “In this new phase, we want to continue consolidating AVEBIOM as the leading organization in the bioenergy and bioeconomy sector in Spain. In addition to reinforcing the role of biomass as a strategic energy solution for the country, we will intensify our efforts to promote the valorization of biogenic resources to move towards a more circular, sustainable economy rooted in the local area.”.
Since its creation in 2004, AVEBIOM has promoted the use of biomass for energy purposes—heat, electricity, and biogas—and, more recently, as a key resource within the circular bioeconomy. The association brings together companies, technology centers, universities, engineering firms, and public entities from across Spain, with a diverse membership committed to a just energy transition.
Its main lines of action include:
-
Standardization and quality, through its participation in UNE standards and its role as the managing entity of the ENplus® and SURE certification systems in Spain.
-
Organization of professional events, like the fair Expobiomasa, he International Bioenergy Congress and the Renewable Gas Exhibition.
-
Dissemination and sector analysis, through the Biomass Observatory, the Biomass Price Index and the magazine Biomass News.
-
Training and knowledge transfer, through conferences, webinars and European projects such as thERBN, BioRural, Poseidon, and the traveling exhibition ‘'Biomass in your Home'’, which brings bioenergy closer to municipalities and citizens.
-
Institutional representation, before national and European administrations, with proposals to promote an energy transition based on our own and sustainable resources.
