Our partner Pellets Asturias has received the "Industry 4.0" award for its progress in the digital transformation of the company in its activity of producing renewable energy from forest biomass.
The award was granted last September and was presented yesterday, January 22, 2020, at a public event held in Gijón.
The awards “Industry 4.0” They were created in 2018 through the initiative of CTIC Foundation - Information and Communication Technology Center y Rural Savings Bank of Asturias and to recognize the efforts of Asturian companies in the process of digital transformation of their companies towards Industry 4.0.
Pellets Asturias has been awarded for the Implementation of a 4.0 system that allows for the remote control of the entire process productive and continuous data collection. In this way they optimize decision-making to increase both the volume and quality of pellets produced.
Process and product quality
All of their pellet production is certified to the highest quality, A1, within the European standard INplus® with the Producer number ES001 (It was the first Spanish manufacturer to obtain it). It has also recently been certified under the German DINplus standard.
Furthermore, the factory has a 1 MW cogeneration plant It uses residual biomass. It generates around 6,000,000 kWh/year, equivalent to the company's energy consumption, and the waste heat from the electricity generation process is used to dry the raw material for making pellets.
The company began operations in 2011 with its pellet factory in Tineo. Currently, Inversiones Grupo Saiz SL and Fundación Asturiana de la Energía are the company's shareholders.
The entry of the Saiz Group into Pellets Asturias boosted the plant's production, reaching 35,000 tons of pellets in 2018 and 39,000 tons in 2019.
The factory gives I directly employ 16 people. and promotes the creation of another 100 indirect jobs in the work of utilizing and transporting biomass to the plant.
