Valladolid should host the meeting of European officials responsible for the biomass sustainability certification system SURE It reinforces the city's commitment to its climate mission and the role that biomass plays in that mission.
Valladolid is quite rightly a “bioenergy capital”, in part due to having three large heating networks with biomass, one Of these, Valladolid Oeste is among the largest in the country. It has also hosted the three most significant events promoting this renewable energy in the Iberian Peninsula since 2006: Expobiomasa, the International Bioenergy Congress, and, since 2020, the Renewable Gas Show, dedicated to biogas, biomethane, and other renewable gases.
He The Climate Agreement approved by the Valladolid City Council in 2023, to which AVEBIOM is a signatory, has earned it recognition from the European Commission and the awarding of the seal “Mission: 100 Smart and Climate-Neutral Cities”. This recognition facilitates the arrival of new public and private funds and financing channels to the city under favorable conditions to achieve the goal of zero emissions by 2030.
On March 13, Valladolid is also the venue for another important event related to the field of biomass: the Minister of Environment, Housing and Territorial Planning of the Junta de Castilla y León, Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones, will present the award “Promotes Bioenergy”, established by AVEBIOM, to the company Ence, Energía y Celulosa for its outstanding role in the development of bioenergy in Spain for more than 20 years.
